Review
In December of 2017 I was home and searching for something new to read when I stumbled upon a relatively new book by a new author. That book was The Coppersmith Farmhouse by Devney Perry.
To say I have been a bit obsessed by Devney ever since might be an understatement. I know she has a lot of fans so I am just one little reader in what is becoming a large sea of many.
I got to meet Deveny at my first ever book signing, LoveNVegas, in October of 2018. At that time she was still fairly new and there wasn’t a line at her table. I was so nervous, she was probably nervous as well, but she was just as kind and gracious in person as we see from her online.
I’ve been lucky enough since to read and review her books through my blog and in March of 2021 I had the honor of being part of her blogger team. I also want to note being part of a blogger team is not always a walk in the park. There are some teams that are demanding of their members an expect certain ratings regardless of your opinion. Deveny is not one of those people. When I tell you that she is a beautiful human, that’s not me trying to kiss her ass, she just literally is.
Anyway, my point of all of that ramble, was because I need you the person reading this review to understand something. I give Devney Perry books a lot of 5 stars because that’s how great the books are. It’s okay if you don’t agree, believe me when I tell you there are books out there people rave about that I did not like. But I don’t give a review just to make someone happy. Reviews are for the readers. I also don’t like to post “bad” reviews, so if I didn’t like a book there are a lot of times I won’t post a review. I’m just not a book basher, not my style.
Okay, on with my review.
As you probably can tell already I love Garnet Flats. I wasn’t really sure was to expect from Talia’s story because there wasn’t a lot we knew about her from the other books. To say I was happily surprised would be an understatement.
This book ripped me up emotionally. I felt connected to Talia on a lot of different levels so her emotions felt like my emotions. I loved how Devney handled the conflict between Talia and Foster so beautifully. The push and pull between them was enough without being too much.
I don’t know if Devney will ever be able to surpass my love for her book Timid, it’s my all time favorite, but Garnett Flats is a very close second. You would think by now I’d be burnt out on Devney Perry books but I swear she just gets better and better. As long as she is doing the writing the woman could get me to love my most hated trope with pages of flashbacks. Another fabulous book from one of absolute favorites!
Garnet Flats by Devney Perry is now live!
Talia Eden loved Foster Madden for one year, two months and eleven days. It was on day 438 that her love died. The day he chose to marry her best friend. The day she vowed never to think of Foster again.
Until years later when he has the audacity to show up in her small hometown of Quincy, begging for her help.
The ink on his divorce papers is barely dry, yet he comes armed with apologies and promises. She knows it's all a ploy. Foster is the king of games and secrets. But he's got delusions the size of Montana if he thinks she'll help him train for a world championship fight.
Except Talia has forgotten exactly what made Foster famous. The man has dedicated his life to victory. He's steadfast. He's determined. And he won't stop fighting until he's won her heart.
