ARC BOOK REVIEW: THE PLAYER BY LOUISE BAY (REVIEWED BY DANA HOFFMAN)

Review

Rating:★★

I really, really wanted to love this story. However, I ended up skimming through it like crazy, anxious to finally get to the end. It’s a fairly light read but it took me days to finish it. I couldn’t make myself to get more into it. The story has all the elements that usually make a perfect romance story, with just enough smut sprinkled in. It also had some drama which dragged on for the first 80%, then wrapped up quickly at the end. That’s about when the two main characters became an item, then they got their HEA. Also, I couldn’t get over all the British words/expressions, and I was almost at the end when I realized what the whole thing reminded me of. It could’ve been part of the Peter Rabbit movie series that’s fairly recent. It hit me when the heroine wanted to talk to the hero, and he invited her to go check on his father’s cabbage patch.

The first time I meet Madison Shore, I’m greeted by her knickers. She’s upside down and trying to untangle herself from my chair at a wedding.

I get to see a whole lot more of her later that night.

The second time I meet Madison Shore is in my London office. Turns out she’s a journalist writing an article about me. To keep control of my company, I need to convince people I’m more serious about business than my playboy reputation suggests. Madison holds my future in her hands.

Now I just need to convince the woman I took to bed on Saturday night that I'm not the player everyone thinks I am.

Private Player is stand-alone novel with brand new characters that have never been seen in any previous books.
