ARC BOOK REVIEW: When Darkness Ends by Marni Mann

When Darkness Ends is the second book by Marni Mann I have read, and I am sensing a pattern. I can only describe her phenomenal way of storytelling as brilliantly trippy. Okay, let me explain.

If you follow me, the following statement will be one you’ve heard multiple times. I hate flashbacks. Why? Because they are so hard to do, it takes someone seriously talented to do a flashback correctly and keep me engaged in the book. When Darkness Ends doesn’t have flashbacks, oh no, it’s a triple POV story written within a memory, and if you aren’t paying attention, you will be lost. Here’s the thing though, you will pay attention, I promise. If you start this book, no way you can’t finish it. I mean, I’m the hate flashbacks queen, and I could not put this book down.

There’s this love story weaved into a mystery, and it’s so heartbreaking you’re never really sure if a HEA is coming. But of course, it wouldn’t be a romance without one, which helps ease the anxiety a bit.

I’m not sure why I haven’t been reading Marni Mann, but this is the second time I have been seriously impressed with her ability as an author. Grab this book and settle in for a brilliantly trippy ride.

When Darkness Ends by Marni Mann is now live!

You never forget your first love, even when they become just a memory.

There was before.
When we were together, when we were happy.
When we had nothing but dreams.
When not a single bad thing could ever happen because we were young and in love.

And there was after.
When the unthinkable occurs, how do you count time, knowing how precious it is?
When dreams turn to nightmares, how do you wake up every day and choose to go on?
When you have a chance to save another, how can you not?

Even if it changes everything.
Even if it destroys you.

A harrowing, heartbreaking dark contemporary romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann, the third installment in the Moments in Boston series of stand-alones that explores the darkest nights and brightest dawns of the heart. A book that will leave you aching ... and looking over your shoulder.
