ARC BOOK REVIEW: Hypocritically Yours by Hayley Faiman (Double Review by Brittany and Dana)

Brittany’s Review

Rating:★★★★★

I needed this book. I needed a good age gap romance with some steamy intimate scenes. I needed to lose myself in a story, and Hypocritically Yours was precisely what I needed.

What I loved:
The age gap.
I’m a sucker for an age gap, and this one has it. 20 something heroine, 60 something hero, yeah, it’s a pretty big gap, but I love it, and I am not ashamed.

The hero/heroine chemistry.
These two had chemistry for days and days and days. There isn’t one word in this book that isn’t HOT. Be prepared to be scorched.

The hero isn’t a typical Hayley alpha asshole.
I love Hayley’s alpha assholes; they are one of my favorite things about her books. This hero isn’t as assie (is that a word?) but he is a new favorite.

Overall.
I thought Hypocritically Yours is a great age-gap romance. The age difference never grossed me out because it is never presented in an unappealing way. Plus, this book is hot AF! I couldn’t put it down.

Ok, in the name of full disclosure, I don’t normally seek out age gap stories, I really only love two in this world, one of which is also by Hayley Faiman (Rough&Ruthless, if anyone is wondering). So I was really hoping and praying that this one would grab me just like the other one had. And I am so happy to report that it did! The age gap between the two main characters is big. She’s 23, he’s 62. She went through a traumatic experience that left her a single mother. He’s got three grown kids (I really hope we get their stories as well at some point) and they’re all older than she is. He’s also married, not happily, but that shouldn’t even count at this point. So there are plenty of things standing in the way of their relationship and happiness. In the end, they do get their happy ending, and it didn’t feel wrong or icky at all. The way it was all presented, that includes how they told his kids (and their reactions to it), her mom (and her reaction), people in general, how they each fought the initial spark, and the thoughts running through their heads about it, it all just felt so real, nothing was glossed over, and I loved that. As a final thought, I will mention that, especially in the second half of the story, I was so wrapped up in the storyline itself that I thought they wasted too much time having sex. I know that sounds weird considering I’m willingly reading a smutty book, but there you have it. These people had lots of drama going on!!!! They could’ve taken longer breaks in between the sex marathons. So, big complaint, too much sex. I hope this will make more people one click this book because it’s really good LOL

He’s sixty-two. She’s twenty-three. Is it just a love affair or could it be forever?

Landry had always imagined at the age of sixty-two that he would be rocking his grandchildren and enjoying a life of retirement.

Life has a funny way of disrupting your plans, and Landry just hired a twenty-three-year-old single mother as his assistant who seems to do just that… stand in the way of his plans.

He’s raised his three children to adulthood. He’s supposed to be settled down. However, he can’t seem to get Tennessee Bradley out of his head.

She consumes his every waking thought.

She’s too young for him.

Far too young.

Except, she’s everything he thought that he could never have in a partner. She’s soft, gentle, caring, and kind.

Is it just a fantasy, or could she be his future?

As an only child, Hayley Faiman had to entertain herself somehow. She started writing stories at the age of six and never really stopped.

Born in California, she met her now husband at the age of sixteen and married him at the age of twenty in 2004. After all of these years together, he’s still the love of her life.

Hayley’s husband joined the military and they lived in  Oregon, where he was stationed with the US Coast Guard. They moved back to California in 2006, where they had two little boys. Recently, the four of them moved out to the Hill Country of Texas, where they adopted a new family member, a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.

Most of Hayley’s days are spent taking care of her two boys, going to the baseball fields for practice, or helping them with homework. Her evenings are spent with her husband and her nights—those are spent creating alpha book boyfriends.
